The Lane4 Tempo Trainer is a great training tool for triathletes, cyclists, runners and swimmers. The concept is simple - the longer your cycle, and the faster that cycle, the faster you will go.
Distance/Cycle x Cycle Rate = Speed
This formula can be applied in a variety of disciplines with the same result - improved performance. This is a highly recommended tool for all triathletes.

The Tempo Trainer is an electronic device that attaches to a goggle strap or is placed under a swim cap that transmits an audible beep to help develop consistency of stroke rate in all four strokes. The Tempo Trainer comes with an attachment clip for all non-water related sports or activites.

As an example, in freestyle, a one second interval would encourage the swimmer to have a hand entering the water every second. This stroke rate in combination with the distance traveled per stroke results in the speed and efficiency of the stroke. The time frequency can be adjusted in hundredths of a second (from 0.20) up to 10 minutes for fast or slow rate intervals. The 10 minute interval is not designed for stroke rate but for specific drills where a lengthy interval would be a benefit.
